Syringomyelia is a chronic disorder involving the spinal cord. This condition occurs when cerebrospinal fluid enters the interior of the spinal cord to form a cavity called a syrinx. This can lead to very disabling symptoms due to the syrinx destroying the nerve fibers in the spinal cord.
